Schwäne und Feuervögel. Les Ballets Russes 1909-1929

Vienna 2009

Client: Austrian Theatre Museum

The exhibition at the Austrian Theatre Museum, organised in cooperation with the German Theatre Museum in Munich on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the first appearance of the Ballets Russes in Paris, illustrates the atmosphere and theatricality of selected productions. Numerous objects, some of which have never been shown to the public, included original costumes, stage designs by artists such as Léon Bakst, Alexandre Benois, and Natalya Goncharova, as well as handwritten dance notations, sculptures, posters, photographs, and film footage. Garments and textiles are delicate objects that require special handling and care. Our long experience and wide network of experts in the fields of conservation, restoration, museum climate and lighting enable the best handling of textile objects for our clients.
